(closed) We’re hiring a Financial Controller

We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our team at our Brompton on Swale site for either a fixed term period of 7-8 months or on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified or part qualified finance professional.

 

About the role

 Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller you will be operating within the Group Finance team, you will have ownership of a number of Company entitles ensuring the delivery of a professional, high value service.

 You will:

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, inclusive of de-tailed balance sheet reconciliations and reporting.
  • Project manage the relevant audits and prepare and provide information as required.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each balance sheet reconciliation, with applicable process notes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enable automation (e.g. excel formulas).
  • Provide weekly cash forecasts, ensuring sufficient funds are available to support each entity under your control.
  • You will work closely with a finance assistant, and you will actively promote their development.
  • Create a strong partnership between finance, management, and operations to help drive financial business results.
  • Provide commercial analysis and cost drivers to the leadership team to monitor and influence business performance.
  • Support work to supply regular statutory returns for VAT/ ONS to external parties.
  • Ensure completion of branch accounts for international branches where appropriate.
  • Produce budgets/forecasting, working with budget holders to deliver achievable budgets.

About you

Skills and experience required are:

  • Qualified or part qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable work experience in a similar role, previous experience as an auditor or being the audit point of contact within a business is desirable.
  • Experience of working within a finance team within a global business in a company facing role.
  • In-depth understanding of reconciliations, controls, and cash flow management.
  • IT skills: proficient in Office 365 packages, in particular Microsoft Excel, and the ability to learn new applications where required.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively analyse financial reports.
  • Ability to convey and present financial information to non-financial team members in an understandable and engaging way.
  • In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organisation and prioritisation skills to manage deadlines and deliver under pressure.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Clearly assess problems and analyse options to find solutions.
  • Take initiative and accountability for own actions to proactively deliver what is required.

Role: Fixed term contract, full or part time/flexible hours (minimum 28 hours per week)
Working from home: 1 day a week
